The Performing Knowledge Project brings you Performetry: Old Poems, New Poems, Your Poems–Round 2. And now there’s not just light snacks. Now we are offering a Smorgasbord of FREE Homemade Soup, Bread, Fruit & Vegan Dessert!
In September we brought you Michael Ingram’s rousing lyrics. In October, we had the wit of John MacDonald, a long time member of the DC Poetry Project and participant in PK’s Writers on the Green Line Workshops. John put together a great show, which included a Choral Presentation of several of his poems.
This month, November 17, we bring you the poetic gifts of Yael Flusberg. Yael’s essays, poetry, and reviews have been published in anthologies and journals including America: What’s My Name?, DC Poets Against the War: An Anthology, Lilith, Potomac Review, and Travelers’ Tales.
November’s classical poetry performance will be Robert Michael Oliver’s part 3 of Whitman’s Song of Myself. Parts 1 & 2 happened during our first two Performetrys. The complete interdisiplinary performance-piece, with music (both original and historic), photographs–new and old–and film will premiere in early spring 2014.
The Open Mic has been expanded, so bring your poems, short short stories, and songs.
Please join us for a rousing 2 hours of poetry, wit, wisdom, and food sharing your own poems and short prose pieces. November 17, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 at BloomBars, 3222 11th St NW, Washington, DC.
BloomBars suggests a $10 donation. Food and beverage are provided.
