Sanctuary’s Performing Knowledge Project re-starts its monthly free, intergenerational poetry and short prose workshops this coming September 14, 2013 at 12:30 – 3:00, at CentroNía’s 14th and Columbia Road location (1420 Columbia Road, NW). Look for signs in the building for the workshops in the 4th floor board room.
Michael Oliver will be facilitating this month’s workshop, beginning with a generative exercise before moving on to a discussion and reflection on participant’s new works–so bring a work you’d like the group to feast on.
Now in its third year, the 2nd Saturday of the month Writers on the Green Line series has a wonderful list of facilitators planned in the coming months, with return engagements by Naomi Ayala (March 8, 2014), Abdul Ali (January 11, 2014), and Carolyn Joyner (May 10, 2014), plus some additional local poets you are sure to recognize. The exact dates of everyone’s facilitation are still in process.
Plus, don’t forget that PK’s Performetry: Old Poems, New Poems, Your Poems starts up again the day after, on Sunday September 15 2013 at BloomBars, 3222 11th Street, NW, Washington DC, from 3:00 to 5:00. A $10 donation is requested at the door. BloomBars is a family-friendly culture site.
To be sure, the Performing knowledge Project and Michael Oliver must give thanks to Poets & Writers, Inc., and to the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, CentroNía, and Pigment Art Studio for their on-going and endless support for the workshops, the poets, and the production of cultural diversity.
