“Dreams” was first published in 1827 in TAMERLANE AND OTHER POEMS by a Bostonian. It was Poe’s first volume of poetry and its title page had the following quote by William Cowper: “Young heads are giddy, and young hearts are warm / And made mistakes for manhood to reform.”
